1880 Homestead Cabin

This is the real deal folks. Just like the homesteaders slept during the westward movement in the 1880’s, you too can experience what it’s like to be a homesteader out on the prairie. Be like Laura Ingalls and let the song of the coyotes lull you to sleep. Our cabin sits miles away from any other building out on the edge of the White River in the South Dakota Badlands on our family run Circle View Guest Ranch. It’s a genuine experience you’ll never forget! Just a 6 mile drive to the main headquarters of Badlands National Park.

Please know this cabin is an original homestead built in 1880, it does not have running water or electricity. You’ll need to bring your own bedding and basic camping supplies. Please plan to bring your own drinking water. There is a functional, authentic wooden outhouse in the yard for your enjoyment. It’s like camping but with a bed and a roof. There is no shower available for guests staying at the Hamm Homestead. Don’t be scared it’s great fun if you’re prepared to rough it a bit! The cabin sits away from ALL other buildings on the ranch on the edge of the White River. It’s the BEST place on the ranch to escape modern life and truly experience South Dakota history.
